Chemours is seeking a Chemical Engineer Co-op to join our Core Services Analytical team! This position will report directly to the Global Core Services Manager.
As a Chemical Engineer Co-op, you will work closely with the Core Services Analytical team gaining valuable experience through hands-on projects in a chemical plant. You will have exposure to real-time engineering work alongside other engineers to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom.
Effective engineering co-ops will have the ability to communicate with impact, have strong self-awareness, and will be naturally inquisitive.
Location: Newark, DE
Hours: Full-time or part-time schedule, flexible to candidate needs
Preferred First Term: May-Aug 2023
Candidates must be able to commit to at least a total of six (6) months as a co-op. Two (2) or more terms may be required.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Develop optimized thermodynamic packages to support global R&D and process modeling efforts compatible with Aspen+ and potentially other simulation software

Use commercial and in-house tools to determine binary/tertiary interaction parameters between refrigerants, oils and additives
-
Evaluate integrity of data collected in the in-house physical properties lab and create/update physical property databanks as needed

Support continuous improvement initiatives within the modeling team to improve efficiency or expand use cases of existing models for parameter regression or physical property estimation.
The following is
required for this role:

Enrollment at an accredited college or university as a Junior or above at time of assignment

Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry

Familiar with thermodynamics and modelling

3.0 GPA or above

Experience with Python, Java, Aspen
