RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and implement significant process improvements in the areas of safety, quality (yield), productivity, and costs.
  • Interfaces with other engineers and suppliers to develop and implement the most cost-effective:
  • High pressure tooling for the manufacture of superabrasive material.
  • Tooling & processes to produce ceramic gasketing components
  • Understand failure mechanisms and their cause(s) for high pressure tooling loss, as well as developing the relationship between failure modes and life of apparatus with mechanical/chemical/physical properties, microstructure, composition, or other pertinent factors.
  • Manage data collection system for the production of ceramic gasketing components
  • Provide leadership and technical discipline to implement lean principles in manufacturing operations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to achieve business goals and support strategic projects related to diamond and cubic boron nitride products.
  • Collect, record, and transcribe data, prepare and be able to effectively present results in reports to all levels of management.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS/MS in Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials Science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical manufacturing environment with increasing responsibility
  • Strong background in both materials engineering and production equipment operations
  • Proven record of accomplishment showing significant business impact, leadership, and facilitation skills
  • Skilled in statistical process control methods (DOE / capability analysis / tolerancing)
  • Demonstrated implementation of lean six sigma methodologies and project management tools are desired (Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred)
  • Ability to maintain and establish open and productive relationships.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and excellent communication skills are a must.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Walking and standing on the shop floor and chemical environments for extended periods.
  • PC/desk work including typing/reading.
  • 75% of position involves walking.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule / extended hours and occasional travel.
