The SSL Store, a growing cybersecurity distributor, has an opening for a Technical Product Manager to work with a portfolio of products in the IT/web hosting/cybersecurity space. This position combines hands-on technical skills with strategic responsibilities, including:

  • Be the technical expert on our go-to-market team, helping to guide our overall strategy
  • Install/use/test/benchmark our products and competing software products
  • Partner with content team to create technical thought leadership, best practice guides, tutorials, etc.
  • Analyze our products against market needs to identify opportunities and weaknesses

Responsibilities:

  • Build hands-on knowledge of our products and competing products in their categories (Digital Trust, PKI, Post-Quantum Encryption, Passwordless Authentication, IoT Security, Certificate Management, Website Application Firewalls, Vulnerability Scanning, Phishing Prevention, DNS, Data Encryption & Backup, etc.)
  • Setup and work with software products in different scenarios including desktops/laptops (Windows or MacOS), local servers (Windows or Linux), cloud servers (AWS, Azure, etc.), IoT devices, WHM/cPanel, Active Directory, etc. Interface with systems using GUI, SSH, Rest APIs, SFTP, etc.
  • Partner with our marketing and content writing teams to create technical content (how-to's/tutorials, best practice guides, etc.) for technical users and customers such as software developers, sysadmins, IT managers, etc.
  • Be the "technical voice" at the table to help drive strategic discussions around product offerings, product pricing, marketing strategy, etc.
  • Analyze how well products meet specific technical requirements/use cases to compare against competitors, inform marketing strategies, etc.
  • Be a subject matter expert for our industry blogs (read by approximately 5 million people per year).
  • Understand relevant business needs, how product capabilities meet these needs in various technical environments, how products compare to competitors, how products do/don't fit gaps in the market, etc.
  • Be able to demo our products when needed. Partner with marketing/production team to create technical videos such as product screen recordings, tutorials, etc.
  • Build a strong understanding of the marketplace by testing/analyzing competing products, analyzing product usage, identifying weaknesses in existing products, etc.
  • Assist other teams (sales, support, etc.) by providing technical expertise on your product portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Able to get up-to-speed quickly and work in a variety of different technical environments. Eg. comfortable working with PCs, Windows or Linux servers, websites, cloud providers, various types of software, etc.
  • Strong hands-on experience in at least one of these areas: IT/technical support, web hosting, website development/management, software development, cybersecurity.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to clearly communicate technical information at a variety of complexity levels ranging from non-technical users to technical experts.
  • Basic/intermediate skills in at least one programming language (such as Java, C#, Python, etc.) is preferred.
  • Passionate about helping achieve our company goals by ensuring that we're serving our technical users/customers with accurate and useful technical information—no matter whether it's a marketing email, a sales presentation, or a tutorial.
