JOB SUMMARY

The Anna Shaw Children’s Institute (ASCI) is a developmental behavioral practice and an affiliate of Hamilton Healthcare System, Inc. (“HHCS”). ASCI was created as a responsive entity to meet the medical and psychiatric pediatric care services needs for children with developmental delays and/or the behavioral issues related to those delays within Dalton, Georgia and the surrounding region. Additionally, the ASCI will provide Physical, Occupational, and Speech therapies to the same pediatric population.

Primary responsibilities for the Physical Therapist (PT) include diagnostic evaluations and intervention programs for infants, children and adolescents at the ASCI with developmental delays related to a variety of medical and/or developmental delays resultant of genetic concerns, syndromes, structural anomalies, acute and/or chronic illnesses. The PT will evaluate patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identify patient’s functional capabilities and deficits; establish long and short term goals; and develop an individualized therapy plan incorporating patient and family. The ultimate goals will be a fulfilled and satisfied state in life for the child through the use of purposeful activity or interventions designed to achieve functional outcomes which promote health, prevent injury or disability and which develop, improve, sustain or restore the highest possible level of independence.

Physical Therapy services offered include but are not limited to outpatient, outreach and potentially telehealth programs. Clinician possesses the expertise necessary to analyze and interpret objective and subjective information obtained through the assessment and treatment process using contemporary, evidence based practice. The Physical Therapist will collaborate with the family, physicians, schools (and other educational institutions), and other providers to ensure continuum of care for the child through optimal clinical services. All interactions are non-judgmental and based on mutual respect. Clinician demonstrates leadership and participates in systematic, planned professional development to improve the clinical, educational, research, and advocacy goals of the ASCI.

The PT is responsible for the evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, and all necessary documentation of all assigned patients at the ASCI. The Physical Therapist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and competency skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in Physical Therapy (PT) specialty area. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development and assess data reflective of the patient’s current status in relation to their developmental and/or chronological age specific needs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited college of Physical Therapy.

Licensure: Registered PT license, or eligible for license, in State of Georgia.

Experience: Prefer 2 years of pediatric experience. Prefer experience with children with developmental delays. May be new graduate with intern experience with children.

Skills: BLS/CPR completed within the first 30 days of start date. Good communication and time management skills. Basic computer skills. Must function well in team environment.
