Nationwide company is looking to hire a dedicated and experienced solar technicians to continue to grow in Texas. New hire will be responsible for assembling, installing, and/or maintaining solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. This may include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. Installer will also be responsible for providing support to the installation team, communicating job status data to the operations management team and ensuring the completion of all solar arrays/systems. It is the responsibility of every installer to ensure safe work practices for the installation team. We are willing to train the right canidate.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Use appropriate hand tools (i.e. crescent wrench, pliers, hammer, screwdriver, etc.) and power tools (i.e. Drills, Impact Wrenches) to perform a variety of functions to install photovoltaic (PV) systems in accordance with codes and standards using drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Lay-out, assemble and install solar modules, panels, or support structures, as specified.
  • Install structural, mechanical, rack system and PV panels.
  • Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; clean tools, equipment, material, and work areas. Work areas will have a clean as you go policy, and work areas will be clean before leaving site.
  • Take pictures of necessary electrical panels, meters, roof surfaces, documents, obstructions, and general property.
  • Become familiar with Enphase Energy monitoring
  • Report all accidents and near misses to the supervisor; participate in the investigation process as needed.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
  • Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities with co-workers in your craft when provided.
  • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.
  • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, assist in the storage, planning and lay-out of materials in accordance with those plans and specifications.
  • Learn to observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Notify supervision of any hazards observed and utilize safety stop work authority as needed.
  • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and continuous improvement measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed reporting any issues to your supervision.
  • Perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing principal duties and accountabilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must have a clean and valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug test and background check
  • Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be comfortable with heights and climbing onto roof areas for extended periods of time
  • Must know how to use tape measures accurately
  • Comfortable using multi-position and extension ladders
  • Able to read, write and speak English
  • Must have good customer service skills
  • Keeps a clean appearance
  • Earns trust easily and maintains confidence from co-workers and customers
  • Ability to demonstrate smartphone skills
  • Solar installation experience required
  • Determine materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
  • Evaluate work and safely utilize appropriate hand tools (i.e. crescent wrench, pliers, hammer, screwdriver, etc.) and power tools (i.e. Drills, Impact Wrenches) for the work being performed.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
  • Listen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate.
  • Roof Experience is a plus
  • “Lead” experience is a plus! Compensation would be based off experience and is negotiable.

  • Pay will be per kW for installs, Service calls start at $160
