Duties:
- Designs and develops software applications.
- Performs coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD and cloud engineering desirable.
- The team is looking for a "full cycle” CW Software Engineer with a passion for optimization and reliability work. Primary responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing web applications and backend services in Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript
- Continuously working to improve the scalability and UI response times of TurboTax
- Supporting the quality, reliability, and performance of our applications and services, including production on-call support shifts, construction of monitoring solutions, improving deployment automation, etc.
- Creating reusable libraries and patterns in an open-source contribution model
- Supporting and coaching other engineers, pair programming or peer reviewing code, helping to ensure that all engineers are growing and part of a community
- Helping us with our mission of getting a pull request to production quickly and automatically while maintaining the highest operational standards
- Supporting root cause analysis (RCA) and risk management processes
- Supporting ongoing improvements and efficiencies in operational practices, tools & processes
Skills:
- Experience coding in Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, or Kotlin
- Experience developing applications and services using Kubernetes, Docker, Spring, React, HTML/DOM, CSS, NoSQL Technologies like Cassandra, Dynamo, Redis
- Hands-on knowledge of CI/CD pipeline development and management
- Hands-on knowledge of cloud engineering best-practices
- Experience creating applications that operate in AWS, utilizing native AWS services when appropriate, and building stacks using CloudFormation
- Experience with of collaborative software development using GitHub
- Knowledge of software development methodologies and practices such as Agile/Iterative development, test-driven development, and load testing Reviewable open-source contributions would be a plus
