Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist/ Jr. Accountant is a key role within the Accounting Operations team which goes beyond the transactional aspects of payroll and accounting. In addition to supporting the Organization’s payroll responsibilities, you will also continually look for ways to help our team become more efficient and effective while helping to advocate and lead the implementation of best practices.

What You’ll Do:

  • Payroll (85%)
    • Support the implementation of best practices by contributing to the payroll function continuous improvement efforts that that increase value created and efficiency of work.
    • Support the Payroll Manager in processing payroll for 1,500 + employees accurately and timely
    • Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues.
    • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters.
    • Engage in cross-training on departmental functions and work flexibly to assist other staff and/or fill in, as needed
  • Jr. Accountant (15%)
    • Prepare and record monthly cash transactions in the general ledger system.
    • Review and approve accounts receivable billing.
    • Prepare and record other monthly transactions to support G/L close.
  • Overall
    • Engage in cross-training on departmental functions and work flexibly to assist other staff and/or fill in, as needed.
    • Perform ad hoc reporting and analyses for management.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in a payroll position.
  • BS/BA Accounting preferred.
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and ADP reporting required.
  • Demonstrated experience as a self-starter, with a record of effectively taking initiative.
  • Dynamic, fast learner who is highly organized, analytical and a creative problem solver.
  • A team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust internally and externally.
