Part-Time IT Support Assistant - LIEOC Job at Farmingdale State College

The LIEOC at Farmingdale State College is looking for a qualified IT Technical Support person. Team player able to work in a fast paced environment and learn things on the go. People skills a must and the ability to be flexible with time. Must participate in Long Island EOC hosted events when needed and travel to offsite locations. Experience working with a disadvantaged population is highly preferred.

The candidate will assist with the day to day functionality of the LIEOC as it relates to IT, Banner system and non IT related matters. The candidate will be right at the heart of matters as they need to deal directly with faculty, staff and students who have technical problems such as trouble with their email accounts, forgotten passwords or viruses. Typical Technical Support responsibilities include:

  • Installation & configuration of LIEOC computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of computer networks and systems.
  • Logging the queries of faculty, staff and students.
  • Analysis of call logs in order to discover any underlying issues or trends.
  • Diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
  • Testing and evaluating new technology.
  • Performing electrical safety checks on the company's computer equipment.
  • Hardware and software deployment.
  • Following instructions, either written or in diagram form, in order to set up a system or fix a fault.

Provide support to the Associate Director of Instructional Technology and Data Manager with special projects. The candidate will coordinate TASC related operations for the LIEOC.

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
  • Five years experience in helpdesk/desktop support.
  • Minimum of one year Banner system knowledge.
