Position: Ouray County Communities that Care (CTC) Mobilizer
Reports to: Voyager Youth Program Executive Director
Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Ouray County, Colorado
Communities That Care (CTC) emphasizes a strengths-based approach to increase protective factors for children, youth, and young adults by promoting principles of healthy youth development, improving youth outcomes, reducing problem behaviors, and supporting communities and youth-serving agencies through coordination of a community-based CTC process. The ultimate goal is to select and implement evidence-based public health strategies, including policy, communications, and system change.
The position is backed by extensive training and technical assistance.
Duties and Responsibilities: May include the following, and other duties as assigned.
  • Uses effective group facilitation skills to help guide the coalition through the CTC planning and implementation process.
  • Works with the core community workgroup to support, engage, and maintain current membership and continue recruiting key leaders and community board members.
  • Assists the community in completing the "CTC Milestones & Benchmarks" process; helps to identify potential issues and implement solutions that include community-level, policy, and population-based approaches.
  • Facilitates a staged CTC process with guidance and training from state trainers and Voyager Staff.
  • Supports community board meeting preparation and follow-up including logistics, agenda, notes, and other communication.
  • Manages the delegation of community board tasks that include collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; community outreach; and public relations. Leads discussions related to project planning and maintenance.
  • Works with community board members, the larger community, and the state trainer to develop and implement a local comprehensive community prevention plan.
  • Partners with community board leadership or designated workgroup to oversee implementation of preventive interventions selected by the community board within designated timelines.
  • Leads the Youth Engagement Workgroup that engages young people in meaningful ways throughout the process, providing opportunities, skill building, and recognition for their efforts.
  • Works with the community board and project evaluators to establish systems for monitoring implementation of and evaluation of selected intervention outcomes.
  • Coordinates dissemination of CTC information to key leaders, schools, and other youth service providers and the public.
  • Makes presentations and coaches community board members in community outreach and engagement.
  • Assists in writing grant proposals, reports, and other materials for funding and other program functions.
  • Assists in developing, managing, and monitoring the project budget in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Works with communication team to develop community messaging about substance use and abuse.
  • Represents Voyager and Ouray County CTC in local and state substance abuse efforts, including coalitions, committees, and work groups.
  • Enlists others in the vision of the program and the agency.
  • Serves as site lead for the Free Basecamp Teen Center.
  • Assists in in-school prevention programs and activities.
  • Perform related duties, as required
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, human services or related field.
  • OR at least three years of experience working in public health, community engagement, community organizing, or community leadership.
  • Driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to form and sustain relationships with a variety of stakeholders (youth, government, education, business, community members, etc.) .
  • Strong facilitation and organization skills.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Zoom/Google Meet, and other relevant technology.
  • Must be culturally responsive and have a passion for working with a variety of people in a nonjudgmental and inclusive manner.
Other:
  • Requires regular local and regional travel.
  • May require occasional state or national travel.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel and comfortable traveling in inclement weather.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evening events and weekends, as applicable.
Compensation:
  • Salary of $40,000 plus benefits. Compensation based on qualification and experience.
  • Annual and sick leave.
