Overview

The Laboratory Operations Associate will provide operational support to the Research and Early Development labs, encompassing both chemistry and biology expertise areas. This is an onsite position in our Cambridge location. This role will focus primarily on the procurement of materials, general laboratory maintenance, transfer of reagents and samples across campus, and support of laboratory staff in their daily workflow. The ideal candidate will be provided the opportunity to grow and take on increasing responsibilities over time.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support lab ops team and scientists with day-to-day operations in a research setting.
  • Support all laboratory services work as needed such as freezer defrost, material transfer and lab move.
  • Perform daily inventories and ensure laboratory supplies are ordered, restocked, and available as needed
  • Effectively communicate with end users, providing daily updates on the availability of laboratory consumables and status of equipment repairs
  • Coordinate laboratory equipment repairs with internal and external resources
  • Ensure a safe working environment by identifying, reporting, and eliminating potential workplace hazards
  • Interface with vendors on meeting consumable delivery timelines and backorder replacement.
  • Shipping and receiving all materials and distribute accordingly.
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials, chemical waste, sharp and other potentially hazardous materials according to regulations.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness by performing daily lab walkthrough.
  • Escort vendors to lab as needed to perform equipment maintenance.
  • Work as a member of the lab support team, perform routine and other duties as assigned
  • In partnership with EHS, perform routine lab safety inspections and walkthroughs, and participate in monthly safety committees

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline with 0-3 years of experience in a research laboratory environment
  • Experience with procurement systems, especially purchase order requisitions and various catalog formats is a plus
  • Experience with Department of Transportation and hazardous material shipping regulations preferred
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office; experience with asset management systems and other web-based software platforms a plus
  • Position requires excellent time management and organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and a high attention to detail
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs is required.
