Intake Technician, Transition to Independent Living Program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in the classification, however, employees may perform other related duties not listed and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee.
  • Coordinates intake process, including providing and assisting students and staff with appropriate forms; conducting tours and coordinating student interviews as the primary support for the TIL program’s recruitment of new students.
  • Works with funding sources to secure funding for incoming students.
  • Provides outreach service that promote the program to potential students and other stakeholders.
  • Invoices and tracks payments, solves billing issues and communicates with funding sources including Regional Centers in all matters concerning the funding of services provided to TIL students.
  • Assists staff coordinate orientation for TIL students.
  • Coordinates schedules of students involved with various TIL programs.
  • Performs a variety of routine clerical and administrative tasks associated with the TIL Program which may include, but are not necessarily limited to, responding to inquiries and requests, processing mail, performing data entry, proofreading, typing, copying, faxing and filing documents, ordering and maintaining office supplies, collecting and distributing documents and supplies.
  • Answers department phone; provides information and assistance to caller, screens calls to handle appropriately which may include handling calls on own without forwarding, taking messages and/or routing calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists in the maintenance and retention of department records including student records.
  • Assists in the maintenance of department databases and web pages.
  • Assists in the development and revision of standard forms, fliers and documents.
  • Assists in the research, preparation and compilation of various reports.
  • Attends meetings as assigned and provides administrative staff support, including taking notes and preparing minutes.
  • Gives direction and trains student workers.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of community integration activities by coaching students in time management, budgeting, normal hygiene, grooming and work ethics and employer expectations.
  • Assists students in the proper use of cleaning equipment and other tools appropriate for maintenance in a residential or small office setting.
  • Assists students with medications and administers First Aid and CPR, if necessary.
  • Maintains security of students, facilities and equipment.
  • Participates in student/parent interviews as assigned by. Transition Specialist
  • Serves as an advocate for disabled students with related community agencies and various components of the college community.
  • Assists staff coordinate TIL Graduation ceremony and sophomore end of the year dinner.
  • Assist staff coordinate move in and move out process for TIL students.
  • Coordinates and prepares all parent meetings including speakers, agenda, and food service.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Certificate or degree in Disabilities Studies or related field within two years of hire date.
Class C Drivers License
Education and Experience:
Associate Degree or equivalent and one (1) year of experience working with individuals with disabilities; OR a high school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
Special Licenses/Certifications
Valid California class C drivers license with passenger endorsement and acceptable driving record to qualify for insurability by the District’s insurance carrier; First aid certificate; CPR certification
Desirable Qualifications
Bi-Lingual Spanish/English
Bachelors Degree in Disability Services or related field.
Experience performing administrative duties.
Proficiency in common office software applications (Microsoft Office, etc...)
HOURS AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Assignments are typically 40 hours per week and 12 months per year. May require overtime hours to be worked which may include evening or weekend hours throughout the year. This position is dependent upon funding by the State Department of Education and/or Department of Social Services.
ENVIRONMENT
Work is generally performed indoors in a classroom setting or outdoors on a controlled children’s
playground and may involve traveling offsite for classroom field trips, workshops trainings or
meetings.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The salary range for the position is a Range 20 on the 2022-2023 Classified Salary Schedule, with a range of $23.32-$27.00 per Hour.
