Nature and Scope:
The Food Pantry Service Representative will ensure that families in need receive food items from the pantry. Food pantry team will work to unpack, sort and pack food once a week. The Food Pantry Service Representative must be available Saturdays, 8:00am – 12:30pm.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Exemplify YMCA ideals, leadership qualities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, work independently, problem solve and possess effective time management skills
  • Strong customer service skills and personal commitment to service and hospitality
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Responsibilities:
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and guidelines established by food bank.
  • Carry out program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pantry.
  • Ensure pantry is secure and orderly day-to-day
  • Effectively build relationships with members and guests.
  • Create a welcoming environment for members and guests.
  • Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Bending, stooping, standing, lift up to 40 pounds.
Stocking, packing, sorting and cleaning
Considerable physical activity.
Work may involve moderate exposure to outdoor elements.
Prolonged periods of standing.
