Position Summary:

The Family Engagement Services Coordinator (FESC) will be responsible for family engagement and outreach efforts to support families in accessing educational programs and services as well as coordinate, deliver, and oversee services for residents/clients of CCHS multi-family housing developments. The coordinator will establish rapport with parents/caregivers of children aged 0-5 to encourage and support their participation in Early Learning educational activities including the Creative Kids Play & Learn Groups. The position will also assist in facilitating play and learn groups and/or coordinating on-site services such as childrens afterschool activities, adult programming and service provision providing informal case management and referral. The Coordinator will work with the Area of Focus Lead Staff and all CCHS staff, on-site community managers, residents, and other community contacts in the execution of his/her duties.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of services and education programs to residents at CCHS housing sites.

  • Work collaborative with the Creative Kids Play and Learn Facilitators to offer early learning services to families with children under the age of five to development kindergarten readiness
  • Develop relationships with local service providers to provide access to education, services and programs for residents.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with on-site community managers to coordinate site activities including scheduling meetings, notifications and ensuring access to the community room.
  • Schedule and facilitate resident meetings and programs; including set up and cleanup of meeting space, recruiting residents, delivery of flyers and notices, and keeping proper records of site events.
  • Establish rapport with residents and encourage participation to plan and carry out site activities and community events.
  • Works in collaboration with CCHS staff to ensure proper coordination and delivery of programs services and events at CCHS housing sites

Connect residents to existing local community services and self-improvement opportunities

  • Meet with local parish and community representatives to engage local support for CCHS affordable housing programs, early learning and other service programs
  • Provide social and early learning services coordination per the requirements of the applicable funding sources including (but not limited to) HUD 202, USDA RD or State Department of Commerce or other affordable housing funding programs.
  • Refer to CCHS residents to appropriate local service agencies based on needs of the resident.

Family support visits will engage, recruit and retain children and families in the 0 to 5 range programming at CCHS housing sites.

  • Engage with families and develop trust so they will attend Early Learning programs and activities.
  • Provide family resources and education about parenting and child development to keep the family engaged with Creative Kids.
  • Connect child with regular primary health and dental, and healthy nutrition which is essential to learning.
  • Assist family with kindergarten enrollment and navigation the educational system so there is a seamless transition to kindergarten.

Documentation and record keeping of onsite resident activities to be used in reporting and measurement of program outcomes and effectiveness.

  • Utilize computerized database to track all program activities at each site.
  • Maintain orderly and accurate program files (paper and electronic), and record keeping/reporting.

Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Work in coordination with Area of Focus Lead Staff
  • Report to the RSPM in matters involving housing operations or property management at CCHS housing sites.
  • Performs other duties as required and related generally to the above job description
  • Work from a team-based approach that may include staff and agency meetings to complete the goals and mission of Catholic Charities Housing Services

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements
:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirement. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelors Degree or some college education from an accredited college or university in early learning, social work, human services, counseling or closely related field
  • Combination of education and/or experience may compensate for education requirement

Experience

  • 2 years experience in nonprofit or public early learning, social services, counseling or community relations work preferred

Special Skills

  • Knowledge of early learning field, social services programs, service delivery networks and affordable housing programs
  • Skills and experience working with children ages 0 to 5 and their parents or caregivers
  • Computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, internet access and specialized housing applications
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • High level of self-motivation and willingness to work in a team setting, including a high level of ability to work independently
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • Valid Washington State drivers license and agency minimum required liability insurance

Employment is conditional upon:

  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
