The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking one highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Electrician Supervisor at Cedar Creek Corrections Center (CCCC) located in Littlerock, Washington.

FACILITY PROFILE

CCCC is a 480-bed male facility. The facility is in the Capital Forest 20 miles south of Tumwater. CCCC is co-located with the Department of Natural Resources and is a minimum-security facility. This facility houses minimum security incarcerated individuals and offers treatment, work and vocational programs to help ready incarcerated individuals to transition back into the community. CCCC is a sustainability prison; some of the many programs include rehabilitation of ailing Western Pond Turtles, raising bees, training service dogs, gardening, and composting. The site includes two living units, a health clinic, education buildings, a gymnasium and support facilities. All incarcerated individuals work at this facility either on an off-site work crew or within the facility grounds.

Duties

This position performs journey level electrical maintenance and repair work at both CCCC and our Maple Lane facility in Centralia, Washington (just outside of Grand Mound). Staff at the Maple Lane facility provide support functions to facilities to that include a Centralized Pharmacy, Training and Development, Capital Projects, and Re-entry work.

As an Electrician Supervisor you will ensure the facility electrical supply and infrastructure is always operating. Some of your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform work and supervise apprentice incarcerated workers performing journey level electrical work at CCCC and Maple Lane.
  • Install, maintain and repair/replace electrical fixtures to include but not limited to lighting, motors, electrical equipment, generators, switch gears, fire panels and sensors. door controls and other low voltage equipment.
  • Perform all work to industry standards and work with the PM3 when creating scope of work for any facility upgrade or replacement on the facility’s electrical infrastructure.
  • Read plans and blueprints, inspect projects to ensure compliance with all electrical codes, determine scope of work and materials needed, estimate cost and availability.
  • Develop solutions to repair and maintenance problems.
  • Perform work and supervise incarcerated workers in support of Annual Facility Maintenance.
  • Schedule the annual inspection of the facility’s fire detection systems and insure all repairs are completed and documented.
  • Schedule the annual load bank test on the facility’s emergency generators and insure all repairs are completed and documented.
  • Inventory and material, Lead Incarcerated worker training, Asset Planner maintenance tracker, and tool control.
  • Order materials and maintains an adequate inventory of required materials to carry on facility electrical work.
  • Read and interpret plans, blueprints and sketches.
  • Lead, supervise, and instruct incarcerated workers and develop methods and procedures to be followed by assigned workers.
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations; maintain records on work performed; write reports as required.
  • Utilize department specific maintenance tracker, Asset Planner, to track and document work orders.
  • Maintain proper tool control to include files, training, and inventory.
  • Duties as directed by the Plant Manger.
  • Work as a productive and cohesive member of the CCCC facility and maintenance team to share the workload as required by staffing fluctuations/shortages, for the good of the Department of Corrections (DOC) to ensure the success of the facility’s mission and goals.

Qualifications

What we need (required qualifications):
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Possess and maintain a vehicle operator’s license valid in the state of Washington.
  • Possess and maintain a current Washington State Electrical License at the EL01 level.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints.
  • Ability to work with others and demonstrate clear and effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to independently read, understand, and interpret policies and procedures.
  • Ability to learn other job specific programs needed to perform work assignments such as facility management software Asset Planner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of staff and incarcerated individuals.

  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing emergency power generators and switch gears.
  • Experience maintaining and repairing fire detection/suppression panels.
