GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Provides direct client services for CAPSC Fuel and Electric Programs. The Intake Specialist performs a variety of outreach services, including conducting intake meetings with clients applying for energy assistance and making both internal and external referrals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma
  • 6 months of experience with social/community services or related field


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides direct client services to include interviewing applicants for all energy programs, completing applications, and providing all necessary verification forms and program information.
  • Maintains and updates client records for all Energy services.
  • As directed learn to use the FAP/EAP and EmpowOR software proficiently.
  • Meet members of the public, greet them cordially and give them general information about the programs.
  • Check each application submitted by clients for completeness and proper documentation.
  • Return all client phone calls/emails in a timely fashion.
  • Assist home bound clients in completing applications when assigned.
  • Perform outreach duties as needed, either by phone or in the field.
  • Be available for evening or weekend hours during heavy workload periods as needed to ensure program compliance.
  • Assist with answering calls or returning messages during heavy call volume times or when receptionist is not available.
  • Must have the ability to work as part of the Energy Services team, keep cordial relations with co-workers and have the ability to adjust to changing procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel when needed.
  • Responsible for having adequate knowledge of all CAPSC programs and will gather sufficient intake information to make referrals to other CAPSC programs which are beneficial to the client and their family.

EMPLOYMENT SCREENING

Valid Driver's License and insured vehicle (100/300 minimum coverage) for use on the job or acceptable alternative, driving record check, criminal record check, randomized drug screening.


Head Start, Early Head Start, Childcare, and Home Visiting Programs are also subject to the following
: Head Start and childcare licensing requires a criminal record check and finger printing to be completed prior to employment. An initial physical examination record, including a TB screening must be obtained within 60 days of hire, updated every three years, and kept on file with Human Resources. If a TB screening indicates high risk, results of a TB test must be kept on file including any treatment received. An initial driving record check will be conducted. License information will also be submitted to the agency’s automobile insurance carrier.
