(BILINGUAL)

Workers’ Dignity, a 12-year-old multi-racial, multi-lingual worker center based in Nashville, Tennessee, is seeking

qualified applications for a communications and grassroots fundraising organizer. The Communications &

Fundraising Organizer is embedded in local worker campaigns and plays a crucial role in designing comprehensive

communications strategies using earned media, digital, and multimedia tools to raise the visibility of worker

struggles. In addition, the position requires planning and overseeing the implementation of three annual

grassroots fund drives a year in collaboration with the Director and worker board (Steering Committee), who the

Communications and Fundraising Organizer reports to.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications

❖ Developing and implementing proactive earned media outreach, including pitching stories, planning and

running media events, and training workers to be spokespersons

❖ Writing materials for public audiences, including leaflets, website content, emails, news releases, fact

sheets, talking points, and ads. Editing and revising others' content as necessary

❖ Framing messages and developing materials for effective communication with multiple audiences,

including the news media, the general public, elected officials, Workers’ Dignity’s members, and allies

❖ Collaborating with leaders across Workers’ Dignity to develop, plan, and lead communications strategies

that support worker organizing and advance our strategic vision. Analyzing the effectiveness of strategies

to improve campaigns

❖ Adapting written and visual materials for effective use on multiple platforms, including social media;

digital advertising; email and petition platforms; and print and broadcast media

❖ Writing member communications, including a regular e-newsletter and mass texts and emails

❖ Managing the Workers’ Dignity website and social media feeds, including regularly creating/curating

content

Grassroots Fundraising

❖ Fundraising Strategy & Implementation

➢ Develop and oversee grassroots fundraising program, including: grassroots donor program,

monthly donor program, and monthly sustainers

➢ Collaborate with Director to identify how fundraising can best support WD’s mission and goals

➢ Serve as key thought partner with the Director and Steering Committee (worker board) in

developing fundraising strategies and take responsibility for the successful execution of these

strategies, including through direct engagement in fundraising.

➢ Develop annual fundraising goals and long-term targets for Workers’ Dignity, in collaboration with

the Steering Committee (worker board) and Director

❖ Grassroots Fundraising

➢ Maintain existing donor relationships (timely donor appreciation, receipts, etc.) and grow

individual donor engagement including major donors

➢ Coordinate the annual anniversary fund drive (which culminates in a WD Anniversary Fundraising

Celebration), End of Year Fund Drive, and annual monthly sustainer campaign. This includes

supervising, coaching and developing high-performing grassroots fundraising teams involving

members, supporters, and staff. Communicate vision, define team member roles and benchmarks,

and provide guidance.

➢ Manage Action Network, WD’s donor database

➢ Update Fundraising Report Card with fundraising metrics after each major fund drive

QUALIFICATIONS

❖ Fluency in conversational and written Spanish and English

❖ Demonstrated experience as an efficient campaigner/organizer

❖ Minimum of one year of work experience in media relations, campaign communications, or grassroots

advocacy campaigns

❖ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

❖ Ability to frame issues and develop effective advocacy materials for specific audiences

❖ Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

❖ Experience with Web-based services for mass email (e.g.: Action Network) and mass texting (e.g.: EZ

Texting, Strive) a plus

❖ Experience with social media platforms and advertising on them a plus

❖ Experience with creative media production in one or more of the following areas a plus: web development,

graphic design, photography, or video production/editing

❖ Experiencing training volunteers a plus

❖ Demonstrated commitment to base-led organizing for economic, racial, social and transformative justice.

❖ Respect for and willingness to learn from differing perspectives, voices, and backgrounds

SALARY & BENEFITS: $52,000 depending on experience. Full medical, dental and vision insurance for staff &

dependents with no monthly premium. Up to 8 weeks of paid vacation and sick time, in addition to 10 paid

holidays per year. Annual professional development fund for use at your discretion (per executive director

approval).

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, regular, exempt.
