Job Summary:

The Clayton County Health District seeks to hire a qualified candidate for the position of Babies Can’t Wait Coordinator (Social Worker, Non Licensed Supervisor). The candidate will supervise, guide, and/or instruct the work assignments of subordinate staff. Supervises, coordinates and directs the social service activities of the Babies Can’t Wait program. Provide persons, families or vulnerable populations with the psychosocial support needed to cope with chronic, acute or terminal illnesses, physical or developmental disabilities. Provides patient education and counseling, advises caregivers, and makes necessary referrals for other social services.

Primary Duties and Job Responsibilities:

Supervises and plans work of assigned staff * Acts as client advocate in order to coordinate required services or to resolve crisis * Counsels clients in individual and group sessions to help them overcome dependencies, recover from illness, and adjust to life * Identify environmental impediments to client of patient progress through interviews and review of patient records * May administer and coordinate services and activities of a specialized program * Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress according to measurable goals described in treatment and care plan * Organizes support groups or counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting the client * Performs clinical assessments of the behavioral health needs of consumers presenting for services * Provides case management services related to identified treatment needs * Provides training to direct care staff in implementing behavior modification techniques and treatment plans * Refers client or family to community resources to assist in recovery from mental or physical illness and to provide access to services such as financial assistance, legal aid, housing, job placement or education

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university AND licensure AND Three years of related experience, One year of which in a supervisory role OR Master’s degree from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience at the lower level Social Worker, NonLicensed 3 (HCP122) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications also possess a background in the following:

- Master’s degree in early childhood or special education, pediatric nursing, psychology, social work, or other directly related field;

- Two years of professional experience providing services to or teaching infants/toddlers and families and/or in the administration of a service delivery program for infants/toddlers and families or children’s health; or
