Corporate Accounting Generalist

DEPARTMENT: Corporate Accounting
REPORTS TO: Corporate Controller
STATUS: Non-exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Corporate Accounting Generalist is responsible for ensuring the key functions of income audit, accounts payable, reconciliations are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years hotel experience required with emphasis in hotel accounting preferred
  • Multi-unit experience preferred
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis in Excel

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, when needed.
  • Sedentary work

  • Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating accounting or hotel operational needs.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

Fundamental Requirements:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages as well as ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics and algebra.
  • Multi-unit full income audit including review and processing
  • Monitor guest ledger, advance deposit ledger and any other related ledgers to ensure proper internal control.
  • Maintaining cash over shortage tracking for multiple units
  • Multi-unit full cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, statement reconciliations and payments
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely fashion and communicate all issues and/or disputes to the appropriate supervisor(s).
  • Distribute respective daily reports to ownership and property management
  • Keep management aware of any unusual operation or financial occurrences and/or significant deviations from policies and procedures.
  • Daily and period-closing activities and provide guidance to property management during the process
