OVERVIEW:
The Youth Worker is responsible for carrying out tasks related to the programs of the Community Center and assist with various duties as assigned by the Coordinator and/or Director.
DUTIES:
  • Plan and coordinate youth activities and events throughout the year.
  • Work with the local schools and service clubs to promote programs.
  • Responsible for working with volunteers and youth to provide a positive experience for all.
  • Adhere to and implement Safe from Harm.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma
  • Computer Literate: Internet/Windows
  • Commitment to the mission and standards of The Salvation Army
  • Interest and experience working with youth
  • Must possess the ability to work well under pressure, particularly caused by seasonal demands and special events
  • Must possess good judgment and ability to work with difficult clients
  • Must be able to pass a background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (usually file boxes)
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to understand written information
