Andover’s Wellness and Support Services has as its focus providing a safety net of services and support to those in our community in need of such intervention. Through thoughtful collaboration among those providing a range of clinical and/or social work services across the age spectrum, Andover Wellness and Support Services seeks to eliminate barriers to access and to ensure those most vulnerable in our community receive the services they need. The Coordinator of Wellness and Support Services provides strategic and tactical leadership across municipal departments, leveraging the synergies created in/among social work professionals when commitment to a common purpose is prioritized.The coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing services in the areas of mental health, substance use disorder prevention, awareness and recovery, and, as well, to ensure that families and individuals in need, regardless of age or income, have access to supportive case management and social work intervention in the community. The coordinator will work closely with the Town’s social work resources, including those associated with Andover Public Schools, Andover Youth Services, Elder Services and the Andover Police Department; creating opportunities for collaboration, regular meetings, training, outreach, public education, and the like. As the leader of this team the coordinator will provide clinical guidance to social work practitioners, identify professional development opportunities, and will eliminate gaps in service delivery.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Ensure clinical/social work professionals within the municipality (including but not limited to: social work staff in the Divisions of Elder and Youth Services) are equipped to provide a range of high-quality interventions and other supports to those in the community in need of such services.Lead a collaborative practice model in/among the municipality’s social work staff to take full advantage of the synergies created when pools of talent work toward a common purposeResponsible for promoting community awareness and understanding concerning the issues of mental health , addiction and substance use disorder. . Provide information about accessing available resources and programs that address these issues.Provide clinical expertise and assistance to the community in the areas of substance use disorder prevention, awareness and recoveryEnsure that families and individuals in need, regardless of age or income, have access to supportive case management and social work intervention in the communityCoordinate professional development and/or training for social work staff as identified to ensure that best practices in the field are incorporated into the work on-goingIdentify and apply for grant funds to support and expand the work on-goingEnsure that outreach efforts, support services and clinical interventions embrace the values of social justice and inclusion in both their design and execution Facilitate the creation of public education/multi-platform strategic communications to ensure the community is aware of services availableWork productively as a part of the Community Services team Provide progress reports and updates to stakeholders on-goingCoordinate with Public Safety by following up on referrals through the Andover Police Mental Health Referral SystemAssist first responders on active Calls For Service when necessaryPerform all other reasonably related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge and AbilitiesExcellent judgment and substantial experience dealing with matters of addiction and mental illness. Excellent organizational skills, ability to work in a flexible schedule to meet deadlines and schedules for multiple projects and assignments.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, to establish positive public relations for the Town and School Departments and the larger Andover Community. Demonstrable skills as a clinical professional, including in-depth appreciation for the handling of confidential and sensitive information. Ability to exercise independent judgment.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.Knowledge of local and state regulations as they pertain to mental health hospitalizations and other related issues.Proficiency in the utilization of Microsoft Office, clinical case documentation. Education and ExperienceMaster's Degree in clinical social work with the appropriate MA license and/or have Certification as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC); a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the area of community based mental health matters, substance use disorder, counseling/prevention; or any other equivalent of education and experience. Experience as a mandated reporter with commensurate training in such mattersExperience with grant writing preferred.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYProvide oversight and clinical supervision/support to the Outreach Coordinator at Youth Services, social workers at Elder Services, contracted social workers, and others as deemed necessary. Such oversight is intended to ensure the effective provision of social work/case management services to those in need of such and is recognized as a compliment to the day to day supervision provided by their respective Division Directors. PHYSICAL ELEMENTSMore than half time spent in normal office setting.
