WaterFire Event Day Staff (hiring for 3 event dates)

Overview

This position is for the following WaterFire event dates only: Oct 1, Oct 22 and Nov 5. The shift is for a full (20) hour event day from 6:00AM (or 6:30AM if meeting onsite) - 2:00AM. Breakfast, lunch and dinner breaks will be provided by WaterFire.

WaterFire Providence, one of the leading creative placemaking practitioners in the country, is currently seeking dynamic individuals to join its seasonal Event Day Staff team for the downtown Providence Full Lighting events.

Responsibilities

• Drive (or being a passenger) to get all equipment onsite in one of the event U-hauls in the WaterFire fleet of U-Haul trucks at 6AM (or meet onsite at 6:30AM).

• Assist in unloading equipment from the event U-Haul trucks.

• Assist with event set-ups including but not limited to tent installations, electrical, audio, lighting, sponsor receptions, art & food vendor setups, special ops torch ceremonies.

• Clean up trash including dumping 30+ large receptables into 20 yd dumpsters and loading the recyclables into U-Haul vehicles.

• Assist with the complete breakdown and packing up of the event equipment in the U-Haul trucks.

• Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation required.

• Ability to work nights, weekends and outdoors in all types of weather.

• Work collaboratively with WaterFire staff, volunteers and interns.

• Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills.

• Creativity, drive, enthusiasm and initiative to carry out projects to conclusion.

• Experience in special events coordination, trades (electrical, automotive, carpentry, audio, etc.), or boating knowledge a plus.

• Ability to lift and/or move 50 pounds.

• Knowledge in the Google Workspace.

• This is a seasonal part-time, hourly wage position. Competitive salary commensurate with experience starting at $18 per hour. Advancement opportunities available.
