Overview:
We are seeking a project manager who can lead our water resources projects (in-office preferred, but we are open to remote employees who are able to meet with clients and staff in California). The selected Project Manager will have the opportunity to lead challenging water resources projects leading a diverse team of planners, scientists and engineers and be an important contributor to the successful and growing Water Resources practice firm wide. You will join our consultant team that spans across seven offices throughout California and numerous other offices across the US. This team of client and project managers, technical specialists, planners, scientists, and engineers delivers projects to our California and nationwide clients and supports multi-disciplinary water resources projects throughout the Company. Our growing backlog of water resources work creates an opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that contribute to the development of solutions addressing key Western water resources issues.
Responsibilities:
Using established and building new relationships with clients and regulatory agencies to procure and manage the scope, schedule, and budget and delivery of projects. The selected candidate will work directly with clients and a team to lead the delivery of water resources assignments focused on providing solutions for water supply reliability, demand forecasting and management, groundwater quality and management, , climate change impact analysis and adaptation, integrated resources planning, regional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, data and information management, infrastructure resiliency, and decision support needs across California. In addition, this position will be responsible for client management, coordinating the work of planners, engineers, and scientists, and developing and monitoring project performance. Participation in professional organizations and mentorship of staff are encouraged.
Qualifications:
  • B.S. (M.S. desirable) in water resources, environmental science, or engineering related field.
  • Experience with project management and working directly with clients.
  • 10+ years of water resources experience; preferably in the consulting field.
  • Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills.
  • Management experience and technical competencies in one or more of the following areas: hydrology, supply and demand forecasting and management, supply vulnerability and risk analyses, climate change analysis, water systems modeling, integrated planning, and decision support related projects.
  • Strong understanding of the California and Federal western water environmental regulatory framework, and experience interacting with regulators.
  • Experience coordinating the work of planners, scientists, and engineers from multiple disciplines
  • Experience developing and monitoring scopes, schedules, and budgets.
  • Self-motivated and results driven.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
