Correctional Industries (CI) within the Department of Corrections (DOC), is seeking highly a motivated and qualified individual to fill a permanent Warehouse Operator 2 position. This position is located at Stafford Creek Corrections Center in Aberdeen, WA.

Duties

Correctional Industries (CI) is committed to maintaining and expanding incarcerated worker training programs which develop marketable job skills, instill positive work ethics and reduce the tax burden on Department of Corrections (DOC). This position supports that objective by providing assistance in the supervision and training of incarcerated workers in the processing of items purchased through the commissary.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Supervises incarcerated workers and participates in the warehouse operations of a large volume warehouse in the functions of loading and unloading vehicles with items for distribution to the units.

  • Opens, packs, unpacks, and inspects incoming and outgoing shipments and relocates items as needed. Practices good inventory control procedures, records maintenance, receiving, storing and distribution of goods and services.
  • Enter merchandise in to Trust Accounting System (TAS) inventory system.
  • Investigates reported errors with incarcerated orders and makes corrections when warranted. Provides timely delivery of orders to each individuals living unit. Charges and/or credits accounts in TAS for their commissary orders,
  • Ensures shipments received are correct and in good condition.
  • Ensures outgoing shipments are properly packaged.
Follows established procedures for facility and equipment maintenance, sanitation and product inventory.
  • Participates in the maintenance, arrangements, and cleanliness of the warehouse facility and equipment.
  • Conducts required periodic inventory audits.
Trains incarcerated workers in all aspects of warehouse operations.
  • Plans and assigns the work of incarcerated workers.
  • Maintains custody and control over assigned incarcerated workers as required by DOC and CI policies.
  • Follows established policies and procedures while training incarcerated workers in the warehouse commissary operations, as well as safe operation of equipment and safe storage practices.
Procurement of product.
  • Initiates procurement documents and summits to supervisor for review and final approval.
Performs other tasks as needed or assigned.*

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years of warehousing experience.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • AA Degree in Business Management or a related field from colleges and universities whose accreditations are recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Experience training others in the workplace.
  • Experience working in facility with incarcerated workers.
  • One (1) year of full time work experience using inventory software.
  • One (1) year full time work experience using Trust Accounting System (TAS) or similar Point of Sale (POS) software.
Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment:
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complete a felony disclosure form prior to employment and submit to a criminal background check.
  • Successfully complete, within mandated timeframes, employee orientation and all other mandatory annual, in-service and other required training.
  • Provide physical residential address and home telephone number to the Department of Corrections.
  • Become familiar and comply with all Department policies and procedures and Collective Bargaining Agreements as applicable.
  • Submit to drug testing in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement and agency policy.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Must current possess forklift certificate or obtain within six months. Must Successfully complete CORE training for interaction with incarcerated persons
