Taconic Biosciences, an industry leader in animal model solutions, is hiring for a Vice President, Research and Development to join our innovative and growing company.

The Role:

The VP Innovation/R&D is accountable to develop, facilitate, implement, and guide the innovations and product development strategy driving growth across Taconic. This individual will gather and interpret market intelligence for potential new products utilizing insights from customer-facing functions and is the primary executive sponsor of projects that form the R&D pipeline. The VP is responsible for Merger and Acquisition ideation, evaluation, and recommendations for opportunities. Reporting to the CEO, the VP is responsible for communication plans, timelines, budget, and milestone progress to Executive Leadership and board members. The ability to develop, retain, and leverage relationships for critical input that impact Taconic strategy and growth direction and decision-making is a must for this position.

Responsibilities:

Overall ambassador of Taconic brand image and scientific Key Opinion Leader

• Identity client needs and develop new utilities, research tools and technologies to address
• Develop, retain, and leverage key relationships
• Communicate findings and recommendations to Senior Leadership Team and Board
• Strategic/Portfolio Ideation, Evaluation, Recommendation
• M&A ideation, evaluation, recommendation
• R&D budget development, accountability, and reporting
• Add new products, services, and/or technology
• Develop, facilitate, implement, and guide top of funnel innovation opportunities

Education & Experience:

• Advanced degree in a biological science
• At least 15 years of project management and leadership experience in technology roles
• A deep understanding of preclinical and non-clinical biopharmaceutical research market
• A record of bringing new products through development and commercialization
• Leadership experience working with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams
• Experience navigating matrix organizations and experienced at building internal teams that deliver results
• Requires excellent written, interpersonal communication and presentation skills
• Prior experience working for a life science research tools company
• Experience in the development of research tools that require complex development and production techniques and an ability to deliver results in this setting
• Brings support and positive attributes to a respectful, supportive, goal oriented, scientific, and diverse culture
• Must have ability to read and understand complex contracts, work with the legal
  and transaction teams, and operate the R&D program in awareness of the foregoing

This position is primarily remote, with required in-person attendance at monthly leadership team meetings, typically held in Albany, NY. Must be able to travel domestically and internationally by air/train/car and to meet with clients, collaborators, partners and attend scientific meetings.
