Job Description:
A very well known company in Kentwood, MI is looking for a Test Technician. The Test Technician will be well versed in refrigeration and electrical systems.

This position performs the final tests on the chamber before it is shipped to the customer. The tests include the controller testing, leak testing and evacuation, system check. The test technician is well versed in refrigeration and electrical systems. The position performs troubleshooting/diagnosing of problems and calibrating of equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
Test Technician - Entry Level I

  • Conducts set up and tear down of chambers and equipment
  • Identifies and verifies wiring, fuses and breakers
  • Evacuates refrigeration systems
  • Able to perform refrigeration static charging
  • Setup of gradient tests
  • Installs dead loads into chambers
  • Accurately adds oil to compressors
  • Completes continuous improvement tasks with supervision
  • Participates in Lean and 5S activities
Test Technician - Level II

  • Proficiently performs all Level I tasks
  • Understands PLC logic nomenclature and structure
  • Safely works on live electrical circuits
  • Conducts preliminary setup of controllers
  • Able to balance all blower assemblies
  • Able to setup, operate, and calibrate all chart recorders
  • Able to startup and debug single stage refrigeration systems
  • Able to handle and recover refrigeration gasses
  • Accurate and timely completion of Test paperwork
  • Participates in Lean and 5S activities
Test Technician - Level III

  • Proficiently performs all Level I II tasks
  • Understands cascade refrigeration systems
  • Understands relative humidity
  • Understands safety and ergonomics needs of the customer
  • Understands test chamber operation and sequence of events
Requirements:
  • Associates Degree in HVAC Preferred
  • History of good attendance
  • Task oriented
  • Preferred: previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • CFC Type II or Universal EPA certification to handle and recover refrigerants
Work Conditions:
Mostly standing work. Continuously lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work and simple grasping. Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, and kneeling with occasional crawling and twisting. Periodic travel may be involved. As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
