Become a Territorial Utilityman at Southern California Edison (SCE). This position will be based out of the Devers Substation in the North Palm Springs region of SCE’s Transmission & Distribution (T&D) organizational unit.

The successful Territorial Utilityman candidate will be part of the team that contributes to sustaining and servicing of substation facilities. Duties include vegetation management and general housecleaning, observation of substation equipment such as switchboard and yard lights to note abnormal conditions and ensuring notifications are addressed to within compliance to internal and/external regulatory standards.

  • Provides support to Test Technician Training Programs by observing apprentice performance, making field visits, assisting with action plan development, and monitoring On the Job Training (OJT).
  • Delivers and facilitates training in a classroom environment as well as non-classroom environments (e.g. field training).
  • Participates and stays current on the development of new technologies, equipment, company initiatives and corrective actions in order to provide up to date coaching and feedback.
  • Coordinate training efforts with Field Management for annual training projects including but not limited to Refresher training and Just in Time training.
  • Attends regional communication and safety meetings throughout the organization and partners with front line employees and management to identify training gaps and resolve all training issues.
  • Provides expertise on changes and improvements to work processes and procedures.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Experience using common hand tools and methods used in structural and yard maintenance work, using basic station equipment and reading from simple gages and instruments

The preferred

  • Availability to travel outside assigned territory to support workload needs, 10%
  • Availability for on call duties after hours and on weekends.
  • Experience using the SAP Work Management System.
  • Knowledge of the SCE Accident Prevention Manual, SOM, and System Operating Bulletins.
  • Valid Class A Driver’s License

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Testing

  • This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email. Reference our Information Guides for the following test(s): Edison Individual Contributor Workstyles (Test #8203), and EEI MASS (Test 5105). Candidates who have previously passed these assessment(s), in some cases, may not need to retest again for this position.
