Mission

The mission of the Technical Writer is to support the documentation needs of EBSCO’s Global Software & Implementations Services (GSIS) Team. As a technical writer, you will be responsible for creating knowledge base articles, guides, use cases, and other materials needed by the GSIS team. The materials you will be responsible for organizing, editing and maintaining will have both an internal and external facing component. Therefore, communicating clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences is a must.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Write technical content for the internal knowledgebase, including configuration and troubleshooting steps
  • Produce non-technical content for customers about product features and setup best practices
  • Track project documentation through creation, approval, publication, and update lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders – Implementation Teams, Library Service Engineers, Product Management, Marketing, etc.
  • Identify gaps in our documentation and proactively define what content to develop
  • Maintain existing content to ensure it is up-to-date and accurate
  • Develop cataloging systems, and maintains records, files, electronic media and archiving of information for documentation
  • Establish versioning and approval processes for all team documentation
  • Gather information through research, partner documentation and interviews with technical staff.
  • Translate complex data into user-friendly text for the external support site including end user and administrator training materials.
  • Select or recommend use of layouts, graphics, charts, or storyboards to amplify or clarify documentation objectives.


Required Experience/Skills:

  • 2+ years experience creating written documentation and working with cataloging systems
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work on cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks successfully under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint, MS Word and other MS applications; capable of creating, editing, and manipulating PDF documents.
  • Solid understanding of technical concepts such as SSO, API and web applications (you don’t need to write code, but you should be able to understand/communicate concepts)


Target Annual Salary Range: $52,325 – 74,750

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
