Overview:
TISTA Science and Technology is seeking a
Systems Engineer to join our growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Work as part of cross-functional Agile and SDLC project teams or support individual product
- Provide technical support in system architecture, system design, security requirements, integration, and technical management
- Prepare and maintain required engineering documentation
- Coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and operating systems, and attached devices; includes investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software.
- Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems, including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
- Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
- Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP. Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
- Advise customer in capacity planning operations and performance monitoring and management
- Assist with determination and document of the baseline IT Security requirements for IT Systems, identifying and documenting system boundaries, determining information categories, and assisting with meeting FIPS-199 requirements
- Assist with coordination and management of security vulnerability and penetration assessments (network, web, application) to identify control weaknesses, assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and provide meaningful remediation
- Participate in refactoring or re-platforming of existing services, applications, and applications programmable interfaces (API)
- Support risk management activities, and ensure key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and expected outcomes, and propose and take corrective action as appropriate
- Support the development of a detailed project schedule, including SA&A/SCA task and milestones, task dependencies, and personnel resources
- Participate in the review and generate input Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA), Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), Information System Contingency Plan (Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMS), as applicable
- 3+ years' relevant work experience
- Experience with Windows, Linux and Unix
- Experience with developing and managing POA&M’s is preferred
- Previous experience in legacy modernization including supporting applications with little documentation
- Displays technical experience with conducting research and providing review recommendations on software and technologies for vulnerabilities
- Experience with conducting audit log reviews
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills, self-motivated, and able to work and communicate in a team environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Microsoft Azure experience required
- Experience with ServiceNow
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar.
Clearance:
- Must be eligible to hold a Public Trust clearance
Work Location:
- Tele-Commute ok however must be able to attend on-site meetings in Washington, DC
