Job Summary:

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

4 years progressive experience in a Health Information Management (HIM) Department in a health care setting is required. Four years experience in HIM in an academic healthcare facility is preferred. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Associate (or 2 yr) Degree in Health Information Management is required. Bachelors Degree in HIM or equivalent is preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Knowledge of all aspects of health information management including federal and state laws and regulations, Joint Commission standards and Medicare Conditions of Participation relating to healthcare records. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Effective planning, organizing, delegating and time management skills. Personal and professional integrity. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively and meet established goals and objectives. Ability to anticipate and solve problems.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is required. Active membership in AHIMA with ongoing completion of continuing education requirements is required.
