Job Title: Student Success Coach

Work Location: Corporate Office/Remote (AZ, FL, TX, OH, TN, NC, CO, GA, MI, PA, NV)

Reports to: Director of Student Success

Overview, Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Student Success Coach helps students develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college. These include academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation, and self-accountability. This role will guide students on basic information regarding Admissions, Registration and Financial Aid.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fosters persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of first time in college and/or transfer students.
  • Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings and proactive outreach and communication, responding to students’ questions, concerns and needs
  • Conducts academic coaching through individual or group sessions that help students assess their own performance and develop academic success plans
  • Assists students in navigating online classes, developing self-efficacy by identifying and overcoming obstacles that may be impeding academic success; works with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivates students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic success
  • Helps students in identifying, developing, and implementing learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials
  • Refers students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred
  • Performs duties that are unique to specific department or college
  • Directly supports an assigned group of an average of 300 students from enrollment through graduation
  • Provides individualized support to students based on identified risk factors including academic, socio-emotional, and other potential issues, and helps to develop individual plans for success
  • Counsels and advises students by phone, email, text and other available online technologies
  • Closely monitors student attendance and grades in student information system(s) and learning management system(s) to assume retention and progression
  • Consistent ability to meet and/or exceed department expectations and compliance requirements
  • Provides students with accurate, complete and timely information on school policies, procedures and expectations
  • Responds timely, professionally, and accurately to student inquiries
  • Documents student interactions in appropriate systems accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinates and attends Student Success events
  • Develops meaningful relationships across a diverse population of students to facilitate student success
  • Assists returning students with re-entry
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • General understanding of the higher education industry, specifically in a Student Services role, is preferred
  • Student services experience highly preferred. Minimum of one year of student or customer service experience, preferably on the phone

Physical Requirements: Ability to work in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, working from a monitor, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse

  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time
  • Regular activities include moving around the office and walking to other departments throughout the building
  • Occasional lifting required of up to 20 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
