The Project/Staff Hydrogeologist will be responsible for conducting and coordinating field investigations, preparing technical scopes of work, conducting data analysis, developing Conceptual Site Models, assisting with remedial system design, and reporting to support the needs of clients in the US and abroad. This position requires superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively interface with staff personnel, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. An employee in this position is expected to work as a member of diverse project teams and accomplish specific tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Classification: Exempt

Compensation: $55- 90j annually; BOE

Location: Missoula or Helena, MT

Requirements:

Education Requirement: A Bachelor’s degree in hydrogeology or related fields such as geology, hydrochemistry, or environmental engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience Requirement: A minimum of two years of experience working in the mining or water supply sectors.

Software: The position requires the applicant to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office© software including Access, as well as AQTESOLV and ESRI ArcMap is required. Proficiency using modeling programs such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW is advantageous.

Potential Travel: Travel to project sites located in the Western US, and elsewhere, both domestic and international.

Physical Demands: The position may require sitting for long periods of time, extended hours working on a computer, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments are located in a variety of climactic conditions and may require standing, squatting, bending, the use of machinery, and a variety of tools.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop technical scope of work and conduct field investigation activities such as drilling supervision, well construction, aquifer testing, packer testing, surface and downhole geophysics, and groundwater sampling.
  • Perform analysis of physical and chemical data.
  • Prepare accurate and professional technical reports and presentations.
  • Project management of team-based project work resulting in client satisfaction and the on-time completion of high-quality technical work product.
