CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Computer Operations Specialist to join our Technology Operations Team located in Houston, Texas.

Summary:

Considered first-line leader of shift activities. Leads analyzing system problems and coordinate activities for support personnel. Monitor and control production, scheduling and the distributed environment. Performs system recovery in the event of hardware/software failures. Control batch production cycles through the use of an automated scheduling software package. Manage communications providing situational awareness to the entire Information Technology environment. Provide direction and perform first-line problem diagnostics. Lead coordinated restoration efforts for P1,P2,P3 Incidents & EOP events.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Monitor hardware/software performance.
  • Analyze and collaborate system problems with appropriate personnel for a timely resolution.
  • Perform first-line problem diagnostics on distributed operations platforms.
  • Set up daily batch jobs for nightly processing
  • Execute daily batch production jobs.
  • Correct job failures and resubmit by using restart/recovery procedures.
  • Interacts and coordinates changes with all client areas.
  • Acknowledge and monitor Service Level Agreement availabilities.
  • Provide application performance metric reports to management using Windows product suite.
  • Incident Command Support for P1, P2, and P3 incidents
  • Develop Incident Command Support training for team.
  • Coordinate the IT recovery of Business Critical applications during EOP events.
  • Initiate Change Freezes for EOP, PEOP and weather events.
  • Create communication templates for high priority incident communications.
  • Develop documentation for PEOP level changes.
  • Maintain distribution lists for TSCC communications.
  • Participate in interviews and provide training for offshore resources.
  • Request needed access for ESC personnel.
  • Maintain the ESC teams Disaster Recovery plan in eBRP.
  • Create and distribute Disaster Recovery communications.
  • Maintain metrics reports for tracking ESC team daily activities.
  • Comply with OSHA and safety regulations in the working environment.
  • Provide technical training for personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent knowledge of English grammar and mathematics

Two years of college required.


Experience:

Five years of Production Control Job Scheduling, NOC experience to include Incident handling, escalation, and coordination
