Employment to Begin in the 2022-2023 School Year


SUMMARY

Assist with the daily operation of the department and provide clerical services to the director and other staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:


  • Answers telephones, responds to inquiries or transfers to the appropriate person.
  • Maintain physical and computerized files.
  • Perform routine bookkeeping task, including simple arithmetic operations.
  • Prepare requisitions, request for payments, and travel vouchers.
  • Maintain a schedule of appointments and make travel arrangements for staff.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute mail and other documents to department staff.
  • Assist with the preparation of the department budget
  • Assist with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Supervisor/Superintendent.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent and two years clerical/secretarial experience, preferably in a public school environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and write correspondence. Ability to effectively respond to questions from administrators, faculty, parents, students and the community. Strong communications, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to perform basic math and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITIES
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
