MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Street Outreach Worker Supervisor handles direct outreach efforts in the targeted population and community. Candidates need to know street-level conflicts around the target communities and possess a passion for solving potentially violent situations with nonviolent solutions.


DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Conduct street outreach in the target community to prevent violent crime and interrupt potential violence.
  • Hold daily meetings with staff activity, participants, and shootings.
  • Hold daily briefing/huddles to access needed intervention, examine causes of shootings/killings or other violent incidents to help mediate situations and preventing retaliation between individuals and groups.
  • Hold daily zone checks to ensure staff is in their assigned zone during work hours.
  • Hold daily debriefing to reflect on the workday for feedback and updates.
  • Daily review of daily logs, case notes, and risk assessment to monitor staff to ensure that they meet DCJS/NYS SNUG requirements.
  • Maintain client files, program reports, and data.
  • Work with the community, Outreach Programs, and local law enforcement to gain useful information in preventing additional killings or other violence.
  • Provide case management services and linkage to collaborating agencies.
  • Implement resources of existing violence prevention models, including program interventions and activities according to high-risk populations.
  • Provide priority of population and intervention strategies that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
  • Take part in the Violence Prevention Coordinating Council and Outreach services.
  • Be trained and knowledgeable in the neighborhood violence prevention model.
  • Must reflect the target population.
  • Crisis response may prompt an irregular work schedule on-call 24/7 for violence-related incidents.
  • Provide support, overall problem-solving help, and advocacy on behalf of clients
  • Provide "one-to-one" advocacy, mentoring, and engagement of the targeted population.
  • Rotating schedule to include weekends and nights
  • Maintain high-quality communication with the management of the Street worker Program.
  • Any other assigned responsibilities deemed by the Project Coordinator and Site Administrator to benefit program success.

v Practice social distancing (6FT) as required by CDC and State Guidelines

(Hand sanitizer, masks, proper handwashing) and wear PPE when unable to properly social distance.


QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED, and relevant experience and knowledge of the target population.


  • REQUIRED A Valid Driver's License and Insured Vehicle for mileage reimbursement(If applicable).
  • Experience working with "Proven/High risk" population
  • Ability to work on a diverse team
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Must consider alternative problem-solving techniques
  • Willingness to work on the street and in other unstructured situations
  • Possess time management skills
  • Communication skills, both written and verbal
