Our Oak Creek, WI Service Shop has an opportunity for a Shop Manager. We have a team of industry leading technicians. This is a great opportunity for the right, experienced person to lead and share knowledge and experience on medium and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and our internal customers, Operations’ Team and Company Drivers. The Shop Manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the shop, and the management of the Service team towards set company goals.

Responsibilities and Roles of Shop Manager:

  • Exercise direct supervision, coaching, and support to employees, operations, and activities within the shop arena; to include but not limited to coordinating staff training, assigning, and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommendations impacting pay, status, and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with management, and approving time off.
  • Oversee equipment preventative maintenance programs.
  • Works as a liaison between Fleet and Operations to support maintenance scheduling, specific equipment needs, and overall customer service.
  • Develop, plan, coordinate schedule and supervises the work of mechanics engaged in the overhaul, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of equipment; participate in more difficult technical phases.
  • Assure prompt high-quality repairs, resolving complaints, and solving problems.
  • Ensure shop compliance based on EVO structure.
  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion for compliance with policies, procedures, and standard practices.
  • Ensure every employee has a clear understanding of how success will be measured at all times. Support through regular, productive interaction including corrective action, praise, motivation, and feedback in appropriate measure.
  • Maintains a safe, organized, and clean shop environment.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years within the heavy-duty trucking industry shop environment
  • 5+ years of successful leadership experience with proven history trucking industry
  • Experience analyzing, prioritizing, identifying, and executing solutions.
  • Knowledge of diesel truck repair and quality standards
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of trucking industry & business acumen.
  • Sound business acumen with ability to analyze, prioritize, identify, and execute solutions.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills; ability to develop employees at all levels.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to always maintain composure and exercise sound judgment.
  • Valid driver's license and able to meet insurance requirements.
