The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Our corporate office is located in Livingston, NJ and we have programs throughout Essex County.

Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a Shift Supervisor for our Residential Programs. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the shift supervisor provides supervision, support, skill training and direct care for individuals living in a residential program

This is an in-person position at our residential program locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises staff, in accordance with agency policies and applicable laws. Assigns and directs work. Resolves initial disputes or problems. Maintains a team like working environment. Assures the timely and accurate completion of assigned responsibilities.
  • Completes all attendance related documentation in an accurate and timely fashion. Manages the program’s attendance management system (time clock) per agency policy to ensure the prompt accurate reporting of all employee time. This includes managing concerns about staff attendance and tardiness.
  • Assists in the planning of the Individual Habilitation Plan (IHP) and assumes the responsibility for the implementation and documentation of the goals and objectives designated in the IHP.
  • Provides training, supports, transportation, and assistance for each individual to enable her/him to complete daily routines in a safe, healthy, productive and dignified manner. This usually includes toileting, bathing, dressing, laundry, recreation, etc.
  • Provides the Program Manager with regular reports and information regarding the individuals.
  • Works closely with the Program Manager, Behaviorists, agency nurses, medical care providers, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other interested parties to address the individuals’ behavioral and/or medical concerns. This can include observation, reporting, documentation, direct assistance, following formal or informal plans, etc.

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines

Education / Work Experience / Skills:

  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities
  • Supervisory experience in a residential or day program for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred
