The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $17.00 to $21.50 per hour, based on qualifying experience and equity within Maricopa County. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

We want you to be our next diligent Shelter Associate to provide daily care and support for our shelter animals. You’ll be an advocate for the animals in our care and promote the health, safety, and welfare of the people and animals of Maricopa County.

We Require
-
High school diploma or GED
-
Six months of in-person customer service work experience
We Also Value

Experience working with domestic animals in a veterinary hospital, animal control, humane society, or another animal facility
-
Bilingual Spanish and English-speaking skills
Job Contributions
-
Clean, disinfect, and maintain shelter apartments, kennels, cages, equipment, walkways, and general areas daily
-
Ensure shelter animals are properly housed and cared for, providing adequate food and water to shelter animals daily
-
Receive animals into the shelter, scan for identification, enter information into the database, and take an identifying photograph
-
Participate in stress and disease reduction efforts and use positive reinforcement training methods

Create and maintain necessary animal records and perform data entry

Assist clients with the animal adoption process and facilitate client/animal interactions

Cultivate positive relations and provide quality customer service
Working Conditions
-
Fast-paced animal shelter environment with exposure to extreme and varying temperatures, dogs and cats with unknown temperaments and behaviors, excessive noise, animal waste and fluids, deceased animals, cleaning chemicals, and zoonotic diseases

Ability to lift, bend, stoop, stand, and walk on various surfaces, including slippery, uneven, and rough
