JOB TITLE: Service Technician Level 3

REPORTS TO: Service Manager/Shop Foreman

JOB SUMMARY:

The Level 3 Service Technician performs basic diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer owned agriculture equipment with minimal supervision and has the ability to procure parts and develop service quotes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Consistently display the ability to accurately diagnose machine systems with minimal supervision.

· Analyze, troubleshoot, and perform electrical and mechanical repairs on agriculture equipment.

· Perform diagnosis and plan effective and efficient repairs of machinery, with some assistance.

· Perform diagnosis and repair in the field as required.

· Operate special tools and equipment in a safe and orderly manner.

· Demonstrate skills to other Technicians as required.

· Report any additional work required on machines to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer.

· Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge. Must be able to conduct Customer Clinics.

· Follow production schedules and requirements for completion of assignments, routinely maintaining an efficiency rate of 95-105%.

· Access and effectively use common resources such as technical manuals, PMPro, Service Advisor, DealerPath, and JDIS to assist in diagnosing and repairing machinery.

· Develop service quotes, with minimal supervision.

· Accurately complete all reports and documentation required in conjunction with work assignments.

· Maintain Department tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition.

· Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

· Enhance customer service through good verbal and written communication.

· Provide professional and courteous service and present a positive and professional image of the company.

· Complete all duties in a manner consistent with established safety policies and procedures, assisting others in observing safety and set an above-standard safety example. Conduct occasional Safety Meetings.

· Perform other service tasks as directed by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High School diploma or equivalent.

· John Deere Tech graduate, John Deere Technician experience or Certificate of completion from a mechanical or industrial arts training, vocation school, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years of service repair).

· Knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.

· Experience in the use of diagnostic equipment.

· Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.

· Score a minimum 70% on the AI competency test.

· Must have expanded set of tools and acquire additional tools as needed for performing tasks, as determined by the Service Manager.

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, must be able to regularly lift 75 lbs. without assistance, grasping with both hands, pushing and pulling, working around moving machinery, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions from extreme heat to winter blizzard conditions.

PERFORMANCE METRICS

· Achieve and Maintain an LPX of 93 or higher.

· Submit well-prepared CCMS cases.

· Complete Technical Foundations and Systems Diagnostics JDU Learning Paths

· Stay current on JDU Educate Training goals.
