Job Summary

The Senior Product Development for bags is responsible for helping drive continuity between multiple team members and their products within the bag line to ensure fit, function, performance, and quality are consistent with a customer’s expectations. They coordinate with team members on all aspects of the product starting from initial design to production prototype. They heavily focus on process implementation and maintenance, innovation, and mentorship.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Uses industry experience to provide ideas for improved construction, materials, or components to enhance functionality, aesthetics, and fit for on body bags and luggage.
• Recommends construction, material, or manufacturing suggestions to meet target sample costs. They are proficient in executing pre-costing exercises. Manages costing within PLM System.
• Explores innovation techniques
  • They are working to get prototypes or samples of innovation that can be refined prior to implementing in the product line
• Reinforces proper processes and standards of construction, compliance, operations, and system requirements
• Aware of all stage gates and their associated deliverables
• Takes lead on special projects as needed
• Approves all Production documentation for their product category
• Is comfortable sharing knowledge in the form of training others
• Adheres to product/seasonal timelines
• Works with Production and QC teams to help resolve problems within production
• Has a focus on data integrity within PLM system
• Travel (International and Domestic) required

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ Degree in Technical Design or equivalent experience in related area with 7+ years’ experience.
• Computer skills required in Adobe Illustrator and MS Office.
• Experience in complex construction such as insulated or seam sealed items is a plus.
• Has prior experience working on bags and/or luggage
• Understands manufacturing processes as it relates to bag development
• Strong sewing skills and understanding of construction
• Able to lead a group of people while reinforcing a positive work environment
• Excels in project management
• Can easily express ideas in a group setting
• Has leadership skills
• Adheres to deadlines
• Meticulous in data keeping
• Highly organized
• Must be flexible to a changing work environment
