Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments- Senior Nutrition Cook Job Description
Essential Duties

Cooks and prepares food for Senior meals as scheduled by pre-planned menus;
Prepares all types of food such as meat, vegetables, soups, gravies, bakes pies, cakes, cookies, bread, makes salads,
Assists in the packaging of home delivered meals.
Assists in serving congregate meals.
Cleans equipment
Washes pots and pans
Washes dishes after lunch
Assists in the cleaning up of the dining area
Sweeps and mops the kitchen floor
Cleans work area
Responsible for weekly freezer pull.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Put deliveries away on delivery day.
Responsible for all inventory to be rotated properly.
Makes sure dry storage/walk-in/freezer are clean, organized and up health code.
Makes sure reach in and reach in freezer are clean, organized and up to health code.
Completes daily, weekly and monthly check off lists.


Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Two (2) years of job-related experience that includes preparing and cooking in large quantities is desired.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered when screening applications for minimum qualifications.
Sufficient education to demonstrate an aptitude of ability to perform above and related duties.
Must have a Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Able to lift 50 pounds
Must possess a current Food Handlers Permit
Ability to accept supervision and work independently.


Successful completion of pre-employment drug screening is required.
A six-month probationary period is a prerequisite to this position.
Some knowledge of nutrition planning.
Some knowledge of cooking and baking techniques.
Ability to read and follow recipes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with employees, other agencies and the public.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
