The Senior Membership Associate coordinates key activities that ensure the successful nomination, election, and onboarding of new National Academy of Sciences members.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
As part of the Membership Office elections group, the Senior Membership Associate:
  • Works with the Assistant Director, Elections to review submitted nominations, online ballot setups, and tabulations; provide demographic and other reporting; and coordinate special projects.
  • Coordinates the activities of nominating groups/committees, including responses to member inquiries; nomination review, tracking, and statistical reporting; online meeting scheduling, support, agenda preparation, and meeting notes; and website postings.
  • Coordinates the onboarding process for newly elected members, including coordination of online orientation sessions; contact and biographical information gathering; in-person session and event coordination at the Academy's annual meeting; and responding to general inquiries from new members.
  • Coordinates logistical arrangements for in-person annual meetings of the Academy's 31 disciplinary Sections.
  • As part of the membership team, works with colleagues on division-wide activities to help ensure the success of the Academy's annual meeting and other key membership activities.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong project coordination skills, responsiveness to deadlines, and attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to work successfully in a team-focused environment with both coworkers and leaders in U.S. and international science.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge.
Minimum Experience: Three years of related professional experience; membership or program experience in a science, technology, or medicine organization highly desirable.
Work Environment: Hybrid Office/Telecommute environment, with occasional travel between National Academies’ facilities and to off-site meeting/sponsor locations.
