Senior Manager, FP&A - Development - Brisbane, CA or Remote Job at Arcus Biosciences
Summary
The Senior Manager – FP&A, reporting to the Director of Development Finance, will be responsible for supporting the operational finance needs of the clinical development, medical affairs, regulatory and quality assurance teams. As this is a new role at the company, the individual in this position will help build new processes, establish and grow internal relationships, and help refine the scope of this role as our operating needs evolve.
Responsibilit ies
Work closely with development operations to effectively budget and forecast operating costs- Spending review and analysis
- Process/policy design and optimization pertaining to accounting and finance processes impacting development
- Review or preparation of clinical expense accruals for quarterly and monthly financial close periods
- Business partner to the development teams to identify opportunities for potential cost savings and operating efficiencies
- Serve as a liaison between finance and clinical development and work to maintain a close relationship between the two functional areas
- Prepare and present regular financial updates to development and finance leadership
- Assess internal system needs and participate in system enhancements
- Partner with the accounting organization to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial information with respect to clinical development
- Assist with the quarterly preparation and/or review of clinical development cost accruals
- Work closely with the FP&A team to monitor and analyze development financial results vs. plan and effectively communicate information and conclusions
- Partner with the development team leadership to manage finance activities, help identify areas of potential cost savings or needed operating efficiencies
- Assist the accounting team with quarterly close preparations by providing analysis for variances in clinical development operating results (i.e., preparation or review of audit flux reports)
- Perform ad hoc analysis and financial modeling/forecasting to support key management decision-making
Qualifications
- 4+ years’ experience in a corporate finance support role focusing on finance, budgeting and financial analysis required
- CPA or MBA preferred but not required
- Experience working in the biotech industry with a working business knowledge of and partnering with clinical development / clinical operations, and supporting business unit managers
- Highly motivated, driven and possess excellent communication and analysis skills
- Strong track record of working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
- Aptitude for effective communication at all levels of an organization
This role can be based at our Brisbane, CA location (preferred) or can be remote based. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $145,000 - $179,000. For remote-based candidates, the salary range may vary based on local market data. Factors such as relevant experience, education, duration of experience, and length of industry experience will influence the actual salary offered.
