Senior Big Data Engineer (US - Contract)

In this role, you would use a tech stack including Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices-based architecture in AWS environment while applying CI/CD principles. The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing on AWS cloud, building highly scalable and fault tolerant cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipeline from the ground up. You will participate in assessing, designing, and developing all aspects of a release lifecycle, including development and test activities. Will be a team player possessing strong analytical as well as technical skills and can communicate the logic behind technical decisions to non-tech stakeholders.

Pay Rate: $94.00 - $99.00 per hour

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify necessary improvements in the AWS architecture to align with the AWS Well-Architected Framework and Best Practices
  • Research, present and accurately articulate benefits and goals of technologies such as Teradata, Big Data, Hadoop, NoSQL, Data Virtualization, and Data Services
  • Monitor Performance for effective use of AWS resources
  • Oversee Provisioning of AWS architecture components
  • Ensure Architectural standards are followed
  • Provide support to maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and configure the AWS/spark/Hadoop environment as needed
  • Responsible for software development, software builds and releases, which includes the design, development, support of builds, scripts, and installation procedure
  • Optimizing or re-designing Cloud infrastructure and DevOps pipeline leveraging tools of core AWS services, git, Jenkins, CI/CD, Jira, and coding with Python or Java or C++
  • Coordinating release preparation and acceptance of new hardware and software; Collaborating across development expertise domains
  • Identifies process improvements and opportunities for automation
  • Manages timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems, coordinates with subject matter experts across the release lifecycle
  • Implements and coordinates various enterprise-wide cloud related changes, implementing solutions to quickly restore service to eliminate/minimize business impact to external and internal customers
  • Analyzes and implements needed changes that arise after provisioning cloud environments for applications
  • Provides technical expertise and support for cloud hosted application releases
  • Facilitates communications (about outages/changes) between vendors and various internal stakeholders

Who You Are:

  • A minimum of 3+ years of experience with AWS DevOps tools, technologies and APIs associated with IAM, CloudFormation, AMIs, SNS, SQS, EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, VPC, ELB, Route 53, Security Groups and lambda
  • Professional work experience with data lake, data pipelines, data transformation, data migration, access management in cloud (security encryption), and Teradata
  • Ability to answer in depth questions regarding Terraform, ACL, Rundeck, and/or TGW
  • AWS Automation (DevOps knowledge) is must
  • Strong scripting skills in bash and python is a must
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of Linux, Github and automation tools like Ansible and (Chef or Puppet) is must
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as a code using tools like CloudFormation or Terraform is must
  • Experience with Hive, rundeck, Airflow, jenkins and Kafka is must
  • Good experience with LMA (Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting) using monitoring tools EX.AWS CloudWatch, Splunk/ELK, Datadog etc
  • Good experience with Networking Technologies like Load balancer, Firewall and DNS
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, unit tests, integration, and regression testing
  • Good experience with AWS VPC setup, Security Groups, IAM roles and policies. (Mandatory)
  • Linux System administration is preferred
