Meruelo Group LLC is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed individual to fill the role of Senior Accountant. This position will perform accounting and reporting functions for Meruelo Group LLC. Meruelo Group is a privately-held company providing strategic consulting and business support services to a diversified group of client companies across a wide range of industries including: Construction and Engineering, Hospitality and Gaming, Television, Radio, Professional Sports, Real Estate, Food Services, Financial Services, and Private Equity.

Responsibilities:

· Ensures the integrity of accounting information through timely preparation of account reconciliations and analysis
· Prepares monthly journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
· Reviews expense account activity, identifying trends and/or unusual activity
· Prepares monthly and quarterly financial statements
· Identifies and implements process improvements to simplify and increase the efficiency of on-going assignments
· Other ad hoc activities as requested

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred
· Three years related work experience; Experience working in multiple industries a plus
· An in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Commitment to continuous process improvement
· Strong working knowledge of Excel
· Experience with Yardi and/or Viewpoint - Spectrum systems a plus
