JOB OVERVIEW
The Security Officer is responsible to provide security and protection of work sites, personnel and assets of the Client including enforcing safety measures and preventing trespassing, unauthorized entry, theft, assault, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents from occurring. This may include operating a vehicle to perform patrol, inspection and/or incident response services.
The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but the company may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements. This position is rotational, working a one week on / one week off schedule. Must be available to work days or nights.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Knows, understands and complies with all company and Client safety and risk management policies and procedures.
  • Works safely and understands that working safely is a condition of employment.
  • Displays courteous, respectful and professional interactions with the public and customers.
  • Performs searches of people, vehicles, vessels, buildings and large outdoor areas.
  • Confronts suspicious persons, assess intentions, and take action as appropriate.
  • Guards property against damage, trespassing, unauthorized entry, theft, assault, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents from occurring.
  • Makes periodic rounds about buildings and grounds, examining doors, windows and gates to ensure they are properly secured.
  • Extinguish fires by using a fire extinguisher and other appropriate means
  • Follows and enforces standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols at the job site and ensures the observance of applicable laws.
  • Effectively and coherently communicates over radio channels while initiating and responding to radio communications.
  • May assist management and law enforcement officials in emergency situations, apprehending unauthorized persons found on the property, searching and seizing items and investigating suspected thefts or acts of vandalism.
  • Takes accurate scene photos and gathers information in investigations by interviewing and obtaining statements of all participants and witnesses
  • Reduces investigation results to written form to clearly and accurately reflect information gathered
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Exercises sound judgement in determining appropriate action to be taken in changing situations
  • May operate and monitor CCTV equipment.
  • Maintains composure and control in all situations
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner
  • Safely operates a motor vehicle in a variety of settings, day and night and during varying weather conditions.
  • Maintains confidentiality and appropriate professionalism.
  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety and operational procedures.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
  • May perform responsibilities of Sr. Security Officer or Sergeant in their absence.
  • Willingness to work at various locations as required.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Knowledge

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security procedures
  • Previous experience in private security, military or public law enforcement is preferred
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical requirements
  • Must meet criminal history and background requirements

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in all OSHA and local requirements related to all assigned work.
  • Ability to proficiently speak, read, write, and comprehend English language.

License/Certification Qualifications

  • Valid state driver’s license
  • State security officer certification or ability to obtain one

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Significant walking or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Generally in an indoor setting; however, may participate in outside activities and events.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
