As Stemilt’s Regional Farm Manager you are charged with providing horticultural consultation for all aspects of Stemilt orchard management, ensuring the work completed is in alignment with Stemilt goals . The Regional Farm Manager works with a variety of Stemilters and uses experience to manage five or more subordinate supervisors who provide supervision to a total of three to five hundred team members. This position supports four thousand Stemilters and it’s required to deliver extraordinary customer service at all levels, as well providing proper supervision and coordination to Stemilters engaged in cultivating, pruning, spraying, thinning, and harvesting tree crops both directly and through effective delegation with foreman/supervisors. Excellent management skills a must.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Determine and authorize alternative procedures to accommodate variables such as weather conditions, water supply, stage of crop or tree development, and new legislation
  • Direct and coordinate orchard activities such as orchard development, irrigation, chemical application, worker safety, and harvesting to ensure that company production goals are met
  • Knowledgeable and effective at training Stemilters to use orchard equipment
  • Coordinate orchard equipment maintenance and repair
  • Develop and implement cost saving measures, contribute to profit and revenue, assist in the conservation of organizational resources, analyze financial statements, and create budget proposals
  • Prepare written reports and correspondence as needed
  • Oversee direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned farms
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws
  • Stay up to date on company policies as well as applicable federal and state laws
  • Interpret policy and enforce safety regulations
  • Conduct interviews, hire, and train Stemilters
  • Ensure exceptional planning, assigning, and direction of work. This includes appraising performance, providing rewards and/or disciplines
  • Effectively resolves personnel and customer related complaints/problems
  • Create a culture within the team that leads to ensuring extraordinary customer service for all team members.
  • Hold self and team accountable and ensure the development of a self-leadership team culture
  • Contribute to the team and the Company in various other ways when requested or required

Reports to: Director of Farming Operations

Direct Reports: Crew bosses, Foremen and Orchard supervisors

Experience:

  • +6 years’ supervisory experience
  • Proficient in MS Office Programs
  • Knowledge of grades and varieties of fruit

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Management or related field, or a combination of education and supervisory experience. Must be able to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus!

  • Possess a valid Washington Driver’s license and Pesticide Applicator’s license
  • Detail oriented and consistently reviews work for accuracy
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Highly organized as well as punctual
  • Productive and can identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Reacts well while under pressure
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
