Position Overview:

The Test Engineering Section Manager within Operations is responsible for leading a support team consisting of Project Test Engineers (PTE) and PTE Section Leads who are technically trained individuals with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience. The successful candidate will report to the Test Engineering Department Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of approximately 15-30 PTEs. The team’s charter is to drive product test integrity by engaging throughout the product lifecycle to maintain and control test systems, improve test processes and influence testability in the product design.

Additionally, the Section Manager will be a member of the factory leadership team, providing input for strategic issues and plans. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both technical and manufacturing leadership roles.

The candidate must be capable of working beyond the typical 8 hour work day and 40 hour work week, including alternating weekend and holiday coverage throughout the year. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending nearly 100% of daily time in the factory areas.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Employee coaching, mentoring, training

  • Employee performance development

  • Providing technical guidance and problem solving to the strategic make center

  • Create job requisitions, interviewing, and EAC forecasting

  • Providing Subject Matter Expertise in MTE processes and procedures

  • Responsible for technical quality of engineering tasks and ensure the proper peer reviews, processes and technical oversight are completed

  • Support proposal activities and provide cost estimates for program bids and fiscal year planning

  • Interface with Common Factory Test Platform (CFTP) team as common test solutions are being developed and deployed

  • Providing daily factory execution support to the make center leadership team

  • Develop influential relationships with internal customers

  • Lead strategic improvement projects across all make centers

  • Strong engineering aptitude and analytical skills

  • Ability to leverage technical problem solving skills to perform effective root cause analysis

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Verbal and Written technical communication

  • Ability to communicate issues and needs as well as provide input to program, supply chain, quality and engineering counterparts

  • Customer and company oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations

  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude to serve as an example to the team and colleagues

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or related field

  • Eight (8) years of technical/engineering experience with emphasis in manufacturing or electrical engineering OR an advanced degree and five (5) years of technical/engineering experience with emphasis in manufacturing or electrical engineering

  • Experience in a manufacturing and test environment

  • Experience with test systems prove in process, troubleshooting, leading root cause and corrective action efforts

  • Experience leading teams or projects

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Experience applying advanced technical principles in test equipment processes and practices

  • Experience with systems such as PRISM, SAP, WebDragon and data acquisition software

  • Experience in software, electrical and mechanical design

  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)

  • Shop Floor Management

  • Experience with proposal development

  • Current DOD Security Clearance

Working Environments:

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending time in and around factory areas.
