The Supervisor, Resident Advocate is a committed, energetic leader who is also a passionate advocate for housing as a human right. The Supervisor will oversee Resident Advocates (RA) in a site-based housing program deeply rooted in Harm Reduction and Housing First practices as part of Avivo’s Ending Homelessness Division’s continuum of care. Kimball Court/American House support single adults who have previously experienced long-term or chronic homelessness, many of whom are persons with a serious mental illness (SMI) and/or with substance use disorder (SUD) who are actively using substances. Through the supervision of a team of RA’s, the role of the Supervisor is to support housing stability and the safety of residents by conducting social activities, completing home checks, monitoring unwanted guests, providing basics needs as requested, deescalating resident conflict, and monitoring mental and chemical health concerns. This role supports day-to-day operations of residents and team members. The Supervisor is a person who thrives in an unpredictable work environment and is highly skilled in meeting people where they are at while delivering the highest quality services. The Supervisor will primarily ensure smooth operations during second shift hours of Thursday to Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The supervisory duties may include shifts outside of this schedule.

Avivo's Ending Homelessness division provides pathways to housing for individuals experiencing homelessness. We work with county coordinated entry systems and tribal governments, as well as operating a unique street outreach teams to connect unsheltered individuals with shelter and housing. We assist individuals as they find and maintain housing, supporting them in scattered-site apartments in the community as well as site-based housing. We provide transitional recovery housing for individuals and families participating in Avivo's treatment programs. We operate Avivo Village to address the needs of individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. Avivo Village is a low barrier and culturally responsive shelter with individual “homes” focused on moving residents to permanent housing. Avivo’s Ending Homelessness Division strives for the highest quality of services using culturally responsive approaches and a deep commitment to harm reduction and housing first through trauma informed service delivery.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:*

Directly supervise Resident Advocates, oversee the recruitment, development, retention, and performance evaluations of a diverse team.

  • In collaboration with Program Manager, develop and maintain programming, ensuring best practices are implemented.
  • Identify and establish innovations in programs and services to ensure optimal results and to engage and build rapport with all residents.
  • Sustain service delivery grounded in culturally-response, person-centered, and evidence-based practices; employ holistic approach.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on operational issues, opportunities, plans, and achievements to Program Manager.
  • Assist in the implementation of program policies and procedures in collaboration with leadership team.
  • Ensure compliance with program contracts and grant agreements; maintain outcome-based statistics and licensing and certification requirements; and utilize Credible to monitor program outcomes.
  • Promote effective quality management of programs including, supervision, file auditing, staff training and performance, policies & procedures, outcome development & measurement, and quality improvement.
  • Coordinating with the Program Manager to manage the monthly staff schedule and coverage plans.
  • Managing resident relationships and supporting resident needs.
  • Creating, implementing, and tracking staff training requirements.
  • High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in the field of social work is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the field providing direct client care.
  • Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience, preferably in a behavioral health setting.
  • Experience with and/or a demonstrated commitment to developing and delivering culturally responsive harm reduction, trauma informed services.
  • Must have a valid, current driver’s license, proof of valid insurance and a clean driving record.
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination.

  • Openness to Harm Reduction and Housing First and a willingness to learn how to use it
  • Basic knowledge and awareness of mental health, chemical health, community resources, trauma, institutional racism, gender issues, tenant’s rights
  • Knowledge of how to provide person centered care and use person centered language
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in handling participant and staff issues and represents organization with a positive and professional image.
  • Ability to coach others to a high level of performance, build a cohesive team and create an atmosphere of respect.
  • Basic Microsoft Suite knowledge and ability to learn additional internal systems
  • Knowledge of community resources or where to find them
