Program Coordinator, Sr. Commercial Horticulture (Camp Verde, AZ) Job at University of Arizona

The Commercial Horticulture/Small Acreage Extension Program Coordinator, Sr. will address community needs in the areas of commercial horticulture, small acreage agriculture, and food systems for a diverse group of stakeholders by developing and delivering educational information, structured programs, and technical support to the commercial horticulture sector, as well as small farms and food systems in Yavapai County, Arizona, and documenting contacts. Maintain high ethical standards and a commitment to Arizona Cooperative Extension and the University of Arizona. Position will be located in Camp Verde.

- The Program Coordinator, Sr. will offer educational opportunities through in-formal classes, clinics, and workshops in plant biology, pest management, soil science, water, and other relevant topics to horticultural crop producers and small acreage growers. Technical support is provided through site visits to identify problems and offer practical, science-based solutions.
- Identify community needs and teaching opportunities for small acreage and commercial horticulture farming communities in Yavapai County.
- Develop and disseminate science-based educational programming and materials for stakeholders by creating various media communications.
- As needed, function as an informational resource for the small acreage and commercial horticulture farming community.
- Bachelor's degree in plant sciences, horticulture, or related disciplines or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in horticultural/agricultural experience working in Arizona or an area with similar growing conditions.
- Must possess valid driver's license upon employment and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy, provide own transportation, and be able to drive statewide.
- Experience with plant production systems, small scale agriculture, on-farm food safety, and other sustainable agricultural practices.
- Master's degree in plant sciences, horticulture, or related discipline.
