The Program Chair of Nursing: Clinical will provide effective leadership and educational support by developing, implementing, and managing all clinical education related activities at Joyce University. The role will work with faculty who interface with clinical education, programs, training, certification, and research publications. The Program Chair of Nursing: Clinical will partner with Nursing Leaders to support the clinical education needs of Joyce University’s nursing and health science programs as well as the school’s strategies and initiatives. This position is located on our state-of-the-art campus in Draper, Utah.

WHAT YOU DO EVERYDAY:

• Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Clinical Administration and the Assistant Director of Clinical Education to coordinate scheduling of faculty, students, and clinical sites.
• In collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and Associate Deans of Nursing, assist in the development and implementation of clinical goals, objectives, policies, procedures, priorities and work standards.
• Assist with accreditation processes of the program as it relates to clinical needs.
• Provide outlines of each clinical experience including updating and implementing curriculum requirements as required by the curriculum committee or Director of Curriculum.
• Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance and good stewardship over resources.
• Assist in interviewing and hiring of clinical employees
• Provide coverage for clinical sites when the regular instructor is unavailable
• Assist in obtaining and maintaining accreditation for clinical education and understand accreditation requirements and work to obtain/maintain certification
• Collaborate with the Associate Deans of Nursing to support clinical needs of Joyce University’s nursing and health science programs as well as the school’s strategies and initiatives
• Provide input and act as an advisor to the Nursing Leaders and faculty in the following areas as they relate to the clinical environment: strategic and financial planning and budget development, financial management and accountability (forecasting/ compliance/control) and implementation of programs to support all aspects of the program and initiatives
• Work with Content Lead Faculty from Didactic, Simulation, and Skills Lab to develop, align, and refine scenarios for courses based on learning objectives and available resources
• Assist in the development, implementation, and management of the academic requirements, in collaboration with each course’s Content Lead Faculty
• Regularly evaluate data in relation to course outcomes and to ensure evidence-based simulation learning is promoted
• Prepare and/or contribute to the preparation of routine and non-routine reports, briefings, and presentations
• Lead the development and direct the implementation of clinical education goals, objectives, policies, procedures, priorities, and work standards
• Collaboratively lead clinical education in the field of innovation, research, and simulator development to promote the advancement of technology and new techniques.
• Perform payroll approval and completion in the Human Resources system
• Utilize course and survey data to improve the course outcomes and student proficiency
• Oversee updates of curriculum, syllabi, and Canvas for all courses taught within clinical education
• Maintain affiliation with American Heart Association and oversee the organization and delivery of class offerings for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support as well as Instructor certification in all of those courses
• Effectively utilize technology and interactive instructional methods
• Respond to student inquiries in a timely and respectful manner (within 24 hours)
• Confer with Student Services when students are non-responsive or absent
• Maintain office hours that are approved by Nursing Leadership
• Attend graduation, pinning, and other college events
• Other Duties as assigned

Master's Degree in Nursing

Required License

Registered Nurse in the State of Utah

Preferred Education & Experience

Doctoral Degree in Nursing

5+ years of simulation instruction/management

Preferred Certification

American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers Instructor (Required after 6 months of employment)
